Futures in Education is one charity that will always have a special place in our collective SquadUP hearts. Their summer open-bar fundraiser is coming up quickly and we want to make sure everybody in NYC hears about it. In case you don’t already know, their mission is to give current and future generations of deserving students in Brooklyn and Queens the gift of an excellent Catholic education. They support 105 Catholic elementary and high schools in Brooklyn and Queens and have funded the education of thousands of students since 1989.

Their team is supportive by nature, probably why they dedicate their lives to helping spread education to those in need. And they supported SquadUP in a big way when we were in our beta a little over a year ago. They were the first charity to put their trust in us, so that alone makes them special. But in this case, it’s more than that.

When you work with a company in beta, you assume that there product is not 100% polished. On the other hand, when you plan a charity event you need everything to run as smoothly as possible. The group you’re supporting, either with funding or awareness, depends on it. Every good #EventProf knows that there may be unforeseen obstacles. Which is why you want to make sure that the obstacles you can prepare for, such as event management and registration, are air tight. We couldn’t be more appreciative that Futures in Education was willing to take that risk on us.

And they’ll be the first to tell you that the first event was a bit hectic. From on-the-spot bug fixing to mistimed emails, I’m sure they would have preferred 10 less phones calls and 10 less headaches. But it’s important for us to look back at this beta event to see how far we’ve come. Sure, we’ve added key features and a robust mobile app to match, but let’s not forget how important the basics are. SquadUP works. What was once a beta platform is now a well oiled machine. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a hiccup, big or small.

So let’s celebrate summer, let’s celebrate progress, all while helping provide vital educational opportunity for kids in NYC!
