The time is nigh to celebrate the birthday of your favorite Gemini—the astrological sign whose birthday range is between May 21 and June 20. As the birthday of the moment, Geminis will be especially excited to celebrate because, as everyone knows, Geminis are known for being extroverted and fun-loving. Many Geminis would say they actually need to party on occasion—and there’s no better time than your birthday, folks.

With that in mind, we put together a few ideas for a celebration with a Gemini theme, drawing inspiration from the imagery and mythology around the zodiac calendar as well as some of the famous people who claim this sign as their own. Without further ado, here’s to the Gemini!

1. Black and White Party.
The Gemini twin symbol is all about binary divisions, as between light/dark and positive/negative. Throw a black and white party to express this duality—have a black-and-white dress code, serve Black and White Cookies—you get the picture.

2. Cross-dressing Party.
Another key binary division is the male/female one (as you can see in the Gemini symbol: one figure is male, the other female). Embrace the binary by having a cross-dress code.

3. Marilyn Monroe.
Possibly the most famous Gemini, Marilyn Monroe is practically a theme in herself. We suggest making use of Marilyn’s most Gemini-esque quotes, such as “It’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring.”

4. Shiva and Shakti.
Thought of as “twin souls” and often depicted in Hindu imagery as the cosmic twins sharing a single form (the god Shiva Shakti), Shiva and Shakti represent the combined male/female energies. We just think they would look awesome as a cake topper.

5. Gemini drinks.
Did you know there’s a Gemini chardonnay? Or, just because Geminis love the fresh and exotic, how about the Gemini cocktail?

6. Allen Ginsberg.
Another famous Gemini, a powerful poet and a leader of the Beat Generation that transformed art, music and literature through the 50s and 60s, Ginsberg is best known for lines like “Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.” We suggest Howl-themed charades.

7. Food that comes in twos.
We’re thinking Twix, Twinkies and Peanut Butter Cups. Easy prep and always crowd-pleasers.

8. Kanye West.
Another person-that’s-also-a-theme … What is it about Geminis? They seem to carry with them an aura of the extreme. To add a Kanye twist to your Gemini party, we suggest a Kanye-themed menu with dishes like Rocky Mountain Oysters and Chocolate “Imma Let You Finish” Dessert Cake—taking inspiration from this genius menu put together by NYC restaurant Brucie.
